Newshost24 Desk: A few days ago the approval came from the Commissioner of Railway Safety. Now it is just a matter of time that the Orange Line of Kolkata Metro i.e. from New Garia to Airport branch starts commercial passenger transport. The expansion work of that branch has started in full swing. Ruby crossing will be completed on Orange Line from Pooja, i.e. 4 km from Hemant Mukhopadhyay station towards airport.
Know that the work is going on fast. Four more stations are going to be added as soon as possible after Kabi Subhash, Satyajit Roy, Jatindra Nandi, Kabi Sukant and Hemant Mukhopadhyay stations in the Orange Line. Before the puja, VIP Bazar, North Panchanna village, Thapa and Beleghata areas will be connected by the metro route. At present, Metro has been allowed to run commercially in a radius of 5.4 kilometers from Kabi Subhash to Ruby Mod.
Railway Bikas Nigam Limited, responsible for the construction, said that by October the authorized route length of the Orange Line would increase by 4 km to 9.40 km. The 32 kilometer long Orange Line connects Kabi Subhash to the airport. With this if Beleghata station is opened then Salt Lake will come near the door. The construction of the bridge from Ruby Mor to Beleghata section has been completed.
But so far no bridge has been built on the 110 meter long stretch in front of a popular restaurant on the bypass. According to RVNL, a partial road block of at least 45 days is needed to construct the viaduct at the site. After that, in January last, the police officials also visited this part. It is being told that the viaduct will be constructed in the section leading to the airport. Calcutta Metro said that till October 2023, a deadline has been fixed for running trains in this section.
